This Spring, Shout Factory released The Mickey Hart Collection which includes the Grammy winning Planet Drum in addition to At The Edge, Diga Rhythm Band, Superlingua, and Mystery Box. Hart's Planet Drum won the first ever World Music Grammy and still stands as one of the genre's benchmark albums.

Next, Star City Recording has just released brand new new Rhythm Devils DVD which was filmed in Chicago during their fall tour in 2006. Well, I was going to ask who was going to this show, but it may not be me... Sold out!!
Arg, I did it to myself again hon...
ticketbasturd fees were 50% of the ticket so as usual I said - I'm not paying that! I posted on one of my lists asking if anyone was going by there to pic up tix. No responses. I just remembered now that I better buy tix so I bucked up and was prepared to pay the $44 for ONE ticket. Just went to the site and it is sold FUCKING OUT! I even pre-ordered the new CD which will allow me (and everyone who did this) to go onstage and "sing with the band" at some point so I reeeeally have to be there (man)
grrrrrr.

So if you have any extras please lemme know!

Lead guitarist and drummer are looking for a bassist to jam with.

For the last few months, we’ve been jamming on a weekly basis for a few hours, working on covers and originals. Neither of us are pros, but both have solid chops and previous experience. Both of us have serious jobs, and have no intention of becoming professional musicians, however we’re interested in some serious musical exploration, song writing, local gigging, and eventually some recording if things go smoothly. After we find a bassist we like, will get another guitar or keyboards in there. 420 friendly for sure, but no straight up drug addicts.

Here’s a little more about each of us…

Peter, Guitarist: 26 years old, starting graduate school in the city in the fall, influenced heavily by Phish, Dead, Allman Bros., moe., Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Bert Jansch, Nick Drake, Leo Kottke, among others. Basically classic and jam rock, with some folk and bluegrass on the side. Written a dozen or so originals we’ve been practicing, and a large repertoire of covers. Likes to segue from one song to the next...

Marcos, Drummer: 28 years old, has performed and recorded with rock and punk bands. Becoming increasingly interested in improvisational and jam oriented music.

You?, Bassist: Can lay down the root as well as noodle on up the fret board, likes to have musical conversations with other people, is influenced by some of the same musicians. Has a job but likes to use free time to jam and hang out.

passing this along because I know how devastating it can be to lose stuff (and how great it is to get it back!)

hey everyone,

the women who was watching the door chuck side first balcony handed me a jacket after the show. i was in that area with a bunch of my friends for much of the first set, so she thought it was someone i might have known.

none of my friends claimed the jacket and i forgot to bring it to the venue lost and found, because i was busy working. I have the jacket. if you lost a jacket at the tab, chuck side first balcony and can tell me what color it is and what was in the right hand pocket, i will get it back to you.

it is a nice jacket, so i hope that the person who lost it reads this, i would like to get it back to them.

Third row center - Rob always remembers me because I forever situate myself right in front of the stage and give him the "ahh, here I am again!" wave before they start. UPDATED MOE. TOUR ALERT::
As we announced on Monday, Al has taken the advice of several doctors and has temporarily stopped playing guitar due to severe tendonitis in his right hand. Although he continues to sing while on the road, the pain of his injury is ever-present, and after much discussion and thought, we have decided that Al needs to take a month off after the Baltimore, MD show to fully rest his hand and to pursue physical therapy if the doctors deem it necessary.

As a band and as friends, we were faced with the very tough decision of whether or not to continue the tour without him. It is with much regret that we make the announcement that we are canceling our North Carolina shows: the 10/26 Disco Rodeo show in Raleigh, and the 10/27 and 10/28 shows in Asheville. Tickets for these shows will be fully refunded at the point-of-purchase, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

We will continue to have a series of friends sitting in for the Buffalo, Albany, Sayreville and Baltimore shows, and Al will be singing at those shows. We are also offering refunds at point-of-purchase for those remaining shows for any fans who choose not to attend.

Hello fellow moerons.
Don’t know why I didn’t connect with ya’ll sooner but hey better late than never.
I discovered Moe about 5 years ago and have now seen well over 30 shows.
I’m super stoked that Moe is coming to Vancouver. I heard there were some issues with their sound guy getting across the boarder so I guess it has been taken care of.
Wish I could do Van, Seattle, Eugene and Portland, dam I love that Crystal Ballroom, but alas work duties come first.
Went to Moe Down 6 last year and had a blast. Took me 5 days to drive there and it was well worth it.
Might be in that area next year so I hope to be joining some of you for Moe Down 8, yes I am an eager beaver!
Well just wanted to give a little yodel to all you moerons out there.

Who's heading to moe.down 7 and wants to share riding expenses - from Chicago or NYC?

Greetings dearest of the dear moe.rons!

Clara Rose here, an explorer of the mind ready for life's grand experiences... I'm on a bit of quest. My financial situation was quite iffy throuought the beginning of the summer, so I couldn't go to any festivals or shows, even those I was slated as VIP for (I'm a music journalist) due to the cost of travel and "fun". But now, everything's in place again and I'm down to make up for time lost this summer by making it to remaining festies like moe.down and Vegoose. Now on to the question.

Is anyone heading out to moe.down 7 (Sep. 1 - 3) Labor Day Weekend from either Chicago or NYC? If I can find a kind friend to drive out with from my hometown, that'd be optimal and marvelous, but if not I'm going to buy a plane ticket to NYC where hopefully I'll have found someone that's also heading out. I figure the NYC bet may be easier, since the festival is in upstate New York.

I'll pay for half of gas and food and whatever goodies the person is down with. :) I'll also provide more wacky conversation and contagious smiles than a human being can handle. Well, you can probably handle it.

snoe.down is getting closer and closer and i want to know if hula hooping is something that will be occuring...or if i will have a spankin new psi hoop sitting in my hotel room, i mean a moe. show virgin hoop waiting for fun! inside or outside venue? im guessing its a bit chilly in lake placid in march...inside huh? anyway, who went last year and if you did go, did you see any hoops????

moe., Blues Traveler, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Peter Frampton and Joe Satriani are among the artists scheduled to appear at the 2006 Jammy Awards. As previously reported, the Jammys will return to New York’s Theater at Madison Square Garden on April 20, kicking off the inaugural Green Apple Music and Arts Festival. Other acts confirmed to play the Jammys include Guster, Savion Glover, Richie Havens, Angelique Kidjo, Steve Kimock, Stephen Perkins, Bettye LaVette, Little Feat, DJ Logic, Mad Professor, Baaba Maal, Martin Sexton and McCoy Tyner. Dweezil Zappa will also pay tribute to his father, Frank Zappa, who is being posthumously honored with this year's Lifetime Achievement Award.

"This is a great core, but there is a lot more coming," hints Peter Shapiro, Executive Producer of the Jammys. "We are looking forward to a great show this year."

As in years past, the Jammys will boast a number of unique collaborations, as well as a handful of surprise guests. Last year's Jammys pairings included Burning Spear and Sinéad O' Connor with Medeski Martin & Wood, Travis Tritt with the Disco Biscuits, Mavis Staples with Umphrey's McGee and Phil Lesh with Ryan Adams. Lesh also participated in a blues jam featuring John Mayer, ?uestlove and Buddy Guy, the recipient of last year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. More information regarding the Green Apple Music and Arts Festival will be announced in the near future.

As previously reported, moe. will kickoff the second leg of its winter tour in Austin, TX tomorrow. But, due to the cold whether and rainy weather, the group’s performance has been moved from Stubb's BBQ to La Zona Rosa (all Stubb’s BBQ tickets will still be honored). moe.’s winter outing will conclude with the group’s second snoe.down festival in Lake Placid from March 17-19. In addition to moe., the three day gathering will also feature the Everyone Orchestra, Soulive, Tea Leaf Green, Assembly of Dust, Gordon Stone and current New Groove of the Month U-Melt.

Earlier this month, Midwest music fans got a sneak peak of the Disco Biscuit’s new lineup during the group’s one off opening spot for moe. After running through the south in support of its new live album, The Wind at Four to Fly , the Disco Biscuits will return to the Midwest for additional performances. From May 3-6, the group will make stops in Milwaukee, Madison, WI and Chicago, IL, as well as an additional tour closing performance at a yet-to-be-announced location. Tonight, the Disco Biscuits will return to the road for a performance at Baltimore’s Ram’s Head Live.

NOLA Jazz Fest Is Going To Happen!

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival should take place on its traditional last weekend of April/first weekend of May, according to Quint Davis, producer/director of the annual event.
"Our intention is to do it April 28 - May 7 at the fairgrounds," Davis said last week in an interview with the Sun-Times. "We're hoping to have official announcement that it's a 'go' before Christmas. All the hotel rooms in New Orleans, with the exception of the Ritz, Fairmont and Hyatt, are projected to be open. We've heard in excess of 25,000 hotel rooms will be available."

Davis downplayed a Nov. 12 New Orleans Times-Picayune report that mentioned the Rolling Stones, Elton John and others who played Hurricane Katrina benefits, might appear at this year's 37th annual festival.

"That's premature," Davis said. "We haven't secured any talent. The guys in that article were being a little enthusiastic. It is true we are not planning to downsize the festival. It will be full scale."

Typically, Jazz Fest headliners are booked by early November. This is not a typical year.

Last year's Jazz Fest was the first since Churchill Downs, which stages the annual Kentucky Derby, purchased the fairgrounds - the festival site. Davis was hesitant to place a bet on the condition of the fairgrounds.

"They got a lot of damage, but they're OK," he said. "The grandstand received extensive damage. Until we start going through the drainage and electrical systems on the field, we don't know how much of that is operable."

Davis took in last month's Jimmy Buffett concert at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where Buffett announced that Jazz Fest will be back. But the real question remains, "Is the Crawfish Monica booth OK?"

"Crawfish Monica, that I can confirm," Davis said with a laugh.

He then added, "Spread the word."

Before heading to Manchester, TN for its fourth Bonnaroo appearance, moe. has confirmed a handful of June Northeast dates. On June 7, moe. will kickoff its brief outing with an appearance at Utica’s Saranac Brewery, before making stops in Boston (6/8), Philadelphia (6/9) and Vienna, CA (6/10). In addition to a pair of sets from moe. each performance will also feature an opening set by the North Mississippi Allstars. moe. will hit the road again on February 22 for a performance at Austin’s Stubb’s BBQ.

The latest addition to this year’s Snoe.down is a new incarnation of the improvisational collective, the Everyone Orchestra. EO founder Matt Butler will be on hand to conduct a line-up that includes Jon Fishman, Steve Kimock, Jamie Masefield, Peter Apfelbaum and Samantha Stollenwerck. It is certainly possible that members of moe. will participate as well, as they are hosting the event, which will take place on March 17-19 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid. Other new additions for Snoe.down include James Hunter, Chuch, Woodenspoon and U-Melt, who will join Soulive, Assembly of Dust, Tea Leaf Green and, of course, moe.

I've ended up with an extra tix to the greatest festival on earth and am wondering who would like to join in the fun!! It's a week long cruise going to Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands and Mexico from January 7-13th. I went last year and can't emphasize enough that it was truly the best time of my life!! I have one ticket available for the 21Oct show in SF. I was so excited that moe. was coming to town, I bought my ticket already... now I have a work conflict and cannot attend :(

It's kinda bittersweet really... I won't be able to see moe., but I'm being sent to Amsterdam for a week instead. Not a bad trade off eh?

Anyway, I'd prefer not to loose money on the ticket, but am willing to negotiate.
